Just in case it hasn't become obvious, I'll say it: The Golden Dogs have become my current favourite Toronto-based live act. Friday night was the third time I've seen their show, the first time being in July 2006 and the second on the Saturday night of CMW 2007. As I've mentioned, they just have everything I'm looking for in a concert: Great music, tight compositions, passion, and connection between band members that just can't be faked. It's a show that produces adrenaline. In fact, after seeing their performance of the song 1984, one fan pushed his way to the front to pound on the stage and yell out is appreciation, then turned to the fans behind him and screamed "Now that's how you fucking rock out!" He is so right - it pretty much doesn't get any better than that.

Open Note To Lee's Palace: The is the second time I've been to Lee's Palace recently where the place it so hot and humid that it visibly sucked energy out of the performers. Dave Azzolini (vocals, guitar) normally sweats a fair amount just from the sheer energy he puts into his performance, but it was so hot at Lee's that he had sweat pouring from his face onto his guitar. So much so that he attempted to quell the flow by tying a handkerchief around his head, as you can see in the photos. After a couple of the more energetic songs late in the set, such as Yeah! (a crowd favourite), he would take a few seconds, sometimes on hands and knees, to guzzle water and recompose himself for the next round. By the end of the set he sounded completely exhausted. Lee's, you need to fix your ventilation system. I don't mind being hot or sweaty, but when it starts to affect the performance, then I care. Fix it.

What a show ! There was an almost telepathic interplay between the band members, with husband and wife duo Dave Azzolini and Jessica Grassia becoming ever consummate showmen. swarovski beads

We saw The Golden Dogs last time we were in the area. They really do a great show. I like the rhythm, it is unlike anything that I know. I wish that beatmaker.net would include some of their tunes in the default list. There is really nothing quite like it.
